Introducing Tim

Who are you?

Hey all, I am Tim, at the moment of writing this I am 2-3 months away from turning 28. I was born in the land from the sea called Almere. We also have our own busses highway. Currently I am in a growing and exploring phase of my career. I am a techie, so you can always ask me for help when it comes to anything techie or with progress!

What would you like people to know about you?

I am a person that always has to do something, either coding, gaming, watching anime or enjoying time with friends (mostly online). I like to help others when it comes to technical things or anything with a PC. I would still like to see the world but everything in its own time!

Do you have a life motto? what is it?

It is maybe not a life motto but a qoute from Anime that I always keep in my mind.

“Fear is not evil. It tells you what weakness is. And once you know your weakness, you can become stronger as well as kinder.” — Gildarts Clive (Fairy Tail)

How are you surviving in this corona- time?

With my current lifestyle not much changes, Most of my friends already live all over the world, so meeting up was already not that big of an option. My hobbies are mostly inside on a pc. I do want to travel more, covid is/was really limiting this. It did have a big impact on what the start of my career looked like. A lot of jobs surrounding innovations got canceled because companies did not know what kind of effect the pandemic had on them. So they had to scratch vacancies that cost them money short term instead of keeping a vacancy that makes money in the long term.

Do you have interesting hobbies?

I love to play games. I like most games from MMORPGs to shooters to party games. I can also really enjoy some board games, especially the ones that bring you on a journey. It maybe seems weird for some but I also like to do Admin (Discord/Teamspeak/Community's) work. I really like the social connections you can build within online communities. Next to that, I love to watch anime/movies/series. Other than that I really like to see the world but this is something that I don't do too often because it takes some resources/energy to do it.

Any bloopers in the past you would like to share?

When me and my raid group(a group of 25ish people that do a boss/dungeon in-game) were doing a weekly raid. In this raid, you have a lot of times a captain that calls out what to do. One time we were doing this raid but what I didn't realize was that I still had my mic muted. The big reason I didn't realize I was muted was that everyone was still doing what I instructed them. So after we completed the raid I talked more for at least 15 mins. Until someone asked me if something was wrong because I didn't talk at all during the raid.

Maybe this is also a little Win because this meant our group was so well coordinated we didn't even need a captain. But yeah you feel kinda stupid talking to a wall for at least 2-3 hours.

With what it problem should the person who read this, contact you immediately, as you cannot wait to solve it?

I love to help people in making their progress more efficient. Especially if there are a lot of options to do this. I always like how amazed some people are when they learn from me what is possible with certain programs. I am also always open to brainstorming about coding especially if it's an exciting topic like Service Mesh.

Tell us any (weird) fun fact about you?

As a kid I really liked "Appelmoes" with hagelslag (Apples with chocolate hagel). I have no idea why but I just liked it a lot. I haven't eaten it for years so I have no idea if i still like it but this is something I used to get called out for back in the days.

I can multitask in extreme, I can play a game, talk to someone, watch a anime, do work and still follow everything. Lots of friends don't get how I do this.

Why do you (want to) work for Techspire?

Techspire is the first company for me that works in consulting. This is/was a really exciting thing for me to experience and learn about. What I really love about Techspire is that everyone is just down to earth, we are here to help each other. Everyone wants to help everyone where they can. Normally when I am with a company I am just an employee that people like and think I am a nice person but with Techspire I get the feeling that they want me to belong. They go out of their way to help you to reach your goals. It is not just a career, it is a lifestyle. I really feel like I can make a big sprint in my career with Techspire. They will have my back to become a great engineer.
