Techspire welcomes new software engineer Anil

We are happy to introduce our new colleague Anıl

Who are you?

Hello, my name is Anıl. I am 28 years old. I was born and raised in İstanbul / Turkey. Currently, I’m living in Amstelveen.

What would you like people to know about you?

I am a morning person. I usually get up early and practice on my daily tasks. It can be an online course, it can be a book that interests me, or maybe an early morning practice. I feel better when I start early.

Do you have a life motto? What is it?

It is hard to wrap a life around a sentence. But there are some mottoes that I like:

  • If you want to change the world, start with yourself. (Gandhi)
  • Once you stop learning, you start dying. (Einstein)

How are you surviving in this Corona- time?

At first times, I take it seriously. I was in quarantine nearly all the time. I didn’t meet with any of my friends. I’ve spent most of my time in front of my computer and my TV. I just did some running in the forest in the early mornings. It is all because corona scared me a lot. But then, Techspire happened. So, I need to go to some government buildings, to see some people and to do some paperwork. Then, I’ve moved to a new country, used airports and public transports to come to the Netherlands. Hahaha.

Due to the coronavirus, I had started to work from home. So it generates a lot of free time. Most of the time I’ve watched Netflix with my wife and my cat. We did finish some video games and table games. And also, like everybody, we eat some delicious home-baked breads!

Do you have interesting hobbies?

With the corona outbreak, my hobbies changed. Before corona, I was interested in fitness and wing chun. Currently, my main hobby is running and I also enjoy reading about finance. Since we have to spend much time at home, I’ve focused on the things that I can do at home.

Any bloopers in the past you would like to share?

Of course, who doesn’t have any bloopers? One time I got a nice fresh mobile phone. As I remember, it was an up-to-date model of HTC. I used it for almost 1 month. One day, my friend told me he rooted his phone, and it doubles its performance! Then, I decided to root mine as well. I had opened up a tutorial and watched a kid that did it on the video. Although it is a step-by-step tutorial, I had failed at some point. As a result, I was holding electronic garbage in my hand.

With what IT problem should the person who read this, contact you immediately, as you cannot wait to solve it?

Generally, I’m able to solve back-end-related issues for you. Especially, if it is about payment systems and membership domains related issues, I am your guy! If you need assistance, I am here to help.

Tell us any (weird) fun fact about you?

If I am focused on a thing/job, I become blind to any other actions around me. It could be anything. From reading a newspaper to tidying up a wardrobe. Most of the people around me think that I am not interested in what they say, but the fact is I am not hearing. Let’s say if I was a deer in the wild, I couldn’t make it to the next day.

How do you feel about Kitesurfing?

I’ve never done surfing before. I think I can try that. But if we’ll plan a day for kitesurfing, I’ll be the guy who supports his friends with a bagel in hand.

Why do you (want to) work for Techspire?

It always interests me to build new features & software. And I love learning new things! I think Techspire will bring these to me with different clients and ongoing projects.

When I applied to Techspire, I didn’t know much about it. But when I met with the team, I learned about the things that the team has done. I thought this will fit my future goals. It’s because they are working with different companies and language agnostic solutions. I’ve always wanted to work with this approach.
