Edward joins Techspire as Sales Manager

Edward formalising the paperwork with Techspire

Who are you?

My name is Edward Claushuis and I am living with my family in Bussum. My wife, Clarine, and I have 3 kids; Madeline (9 years), Reinier (6 years) and Alexander (4 years old) and we also have a dog: Polo a springer spaniel. My wife and I used to live in Amsterdam but about 10 years ago we moved to the countryside as we didn’t go downtown that much anymore. Now especially, in this Corona time, we love the fact we moved to a more rural area and now have nature around the corner.

What have you been doing in your professional life?

During my 20 year career I have been involved in the startup and growth of 4 company’s. I was responsible for these projects from A till Z; creating of the proposition, making of the business case, project management and hiring the first employees. Besides that I was responsible for hosting Philips users on Azure as one of the first in Europe in 2016.

What are you most proud of?

8 year ago I started the company Culidelight. In my opinion the meals in the supermarket were tasteless and they were very “traditional” Dutch. There had to be an opportunity for the Dutch people that want to enjoy a good, nutritious, healthy meal.
I started Culidelight as a shop, with 14 freezers and 140 international (Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, French, Mexican, etc.) meal-components. When I was in business, the hotel industry discovered my concept, loved it and adopted it. So if you’ve ever spent a night in a hotel chain in the Netherlands and had dinner at the hotel, you might have enjoyed one of “my” meals…

Do you have a life motto? What is it?

Balance your life into 3 parts: 33% family, 33% work and 33% social contacts.

How are you surviving in this Corona- time?

Quite okay. When I am working, I try to spend the time at the office, as far as allowed. With my 3 small children it is not always easy to stay focussed, when working from home. Of course I also did my part and was home-schooling the kids. Well, I can tell you, that is much more difficult than expected. However I do spend a lot of time with the kids, going to the playground “de Zeeuwmeeuw”, visiting the seaside etc. And of course now that I spend more time at home I can do a lot of cooking.

What/how will you attribute to the Techspire team?

For the Techspire team I will be a sparring partner and the social factor in team building activities. Together with them I will be helping our clients with their IT environment and we will be delivering state of the art solutions for them, fitted for their organisation.

Of course this all starts with listening to the client and understanding their needs. Sometimes that is already clear. When it’s not, I can moderate sessions that help define, or align, the different views/opinions within the client organisation. During these sessions we will discover exactly what the organisation’s aspirations are and how they can be met, looking at the organisation itself and the technology within it.

What are you looking forward to the most, working for Techspire?

Working for Techspire, I am eager to reach out to new clients with the goal to help them, whether that is with possible legacy issues, their journey to the cloud or with their digital transformation. Also I cannot wait to reach out to partners as well, creating win-win-win situations.

Do you have interesting hobbies?

As I am very hospitable, I love to have guests over. As you have understood by now, I am the cook during those events. Related to this hobby, I collect old style cooking and serving tools and materials for serving and cooking right at the table before eating. The stuff you would find in restaurants in the 1960’s in hotels like Hotel L’ Europe and Hotel Huis ter Duin.

How do you feel about Kitesurfing?

Love to try kitesurfing, but currently I cannot find the time, once the kids are more grown up, I am sure they will convince me to give it a try. If my colleagues of Techspire haven’t already done that and placed me on a kiteboard.

Why do you (want to) work for Techspire

It’s a young, growing company with very professional colleagues and a great atmosphere. Lots of potential here.
The cloud is the limit.
