Introducing Abdul

Who are you?

Hi! My name is Abdul and I am 38 years old, born in Accra Ghana and moved to Johannesburg South Africa at the age of 23. I lived there for 15 years, got married to my beautiful wife and have 4 Lovely Kids. I am now living in the Netherlands with my family.

What would you like people to know about you?

I love cars so much that as a young boy, growing up in the streets of Accra, I would go to school with a note book and would write about any car that I see on the road that is not already in my book, so from the name of the car to the model and the specs!! And would always tell my self I would be a car Manufacturer one day! Hmmm I hope Elon Musk will read this! Lol I still have that book in my family house and my wife and kids think its cute.

Do you have a life motto? what is it?

God first in all you do! Stay Humble and Grateful for all you have.

How are you surviving in this corona- time?

It hasn’t been easy living in these times. Who knew that what we watch on TV would become a reality. I am grateful I am able to keep working from home and this has really given me the opportunity to bond with my youngest son. He is my co-pilot when I am working. Sometimes he even wants to join my meetings, maybe he thinks he can do a better job than me. What I take from this corona-time is to Appreciate every moment that we have to spend time with family and friends.

Do you have interesting hobbies?

I love MMA, I enjoy cooking and anything to do with cars and technology.

Any bloopers in the past you would like to share?

Eish!! This is bringing out the South African in Me. I was working on a Complex Linux server with lots of Automation scripts, mostly triggered by cron jobs, and there I was setup my new automation process and created a crop job for it! I Decided to edit the crontab to see the job in action before changing it to run later. Instead of control+e to edit the crontab I accidentally entered control+r!! (Why is R next to E on the Keyboard) and folks you know what happens!! Wiped the entire crontab with that command. Boy was I sweating because there was no backups of the crontab! Took me a day to fix it!

With what it problem should the person who read this, contact you immediately, as you cannot wait to solve it?

I love to Automate things and make life easy for everyone. If you have a complex IT situation that needs to be simplified and automated so you can have peace of mind then give me a call and together we will automate the process and make it functional. I Love to do postmortem of problems and apply fixes so it does not happen again. Be it Cloud, Linux, Infrastructure Issues that you need solutions for then I am your guy!

Tell us any (weird) fun fact about you?

Oh Nooo!! I am actually Scared of Ducks. I will never go close to them, safe distance is a km away.

Why do you (want to) work for Techspire?

I see my personal goals and vision in line with that of Techspire. I am part of the Techspire team because it really does not feel like work but one big family of Techies that are in love with technology in one way or another and are fun to be around with. Got all the help I needed from team Techspire to settle into the Netherlands.
