Introducing Erik

Who are you?

Hey Erik here and I am a Software Developer for 26 years. I live in Almere for most of my life. I am single and have no pets. I like to read a lot and watch movies and TV-series.

What would you like people to know about you?

I am a good listener and I can put myself in your shoes to help if it is needed. Also I can explain some of the most technical things to non-technical people.

Do you have a life motto? what is it?

I don’t really have a motto, but more a realisation: If you want something to change, you have to take action yourself because no one will do it for you.

What is the most “nerdy thing” about you?

I have a huge collection of American and Dutch comic books.

Do you have interesting hobbies?

I’ve been collecting comic books since the 90’s. For this I go to many conventions in The Netherlands and Belgium to search for missing issues.

Any bloopers in the past you would like to share?

A couple of years ago I was in Sevilla on an electric step bike touring through the city. At some point I was searching for an ATM. When my colleague pointed one out I turned the steering wheel and exactly a that moment the wheel was on an aluminum manhole cover and the bike slipped spiraling me across the pavement.

With what it problem should the person who read this, contact you immediately, as you cannot wait to solve it?

I like to help whenever I can. If there’s a problem that you are struggling with and can’t figure out how to solve it I would like to help you think of a solution. Sometimes the solution will represent itself if you have explained it to some else without even offering them a solution.

Tell us any (weird) fun fact about you?

I can recognize a lot of actors by their voice. For instance I knew who the actor was that played Jigsaw in the movie “Saw” before he made his entry.

Why do you (want to) work for Techspire?

I work at Techspire because it is a small innovative company. You are not a number here, but a colleague. Everyone knows each other and is willing to help each other.
