Introducing Uma

Who are you?

Hi! I am Uma, I am 33 years old. I live in Eindhoven with my lovely wife Akanksha. I am from India. In my free time I try to play basketball and video games and I am football fan.

What would you like people to know about you?

One thing about me is that I am very patient and I am very approachable. I like to help people both professionally and personally.

Do you have a life motto? what is it?

I have quite a few:

  • Never mess with a person who has access to your toothbrush.
  • If you are good at something never do it for free.

But the one by which I try to live with is “be humble, be grateful and try to live life everyday.”

How are you surviving in this corona- time?

Well prior to corona I used to go to a lot of meetups and meet new expats in the country. This has stopped and it was bit hard for me to transition to not meet people. On the work front my productivity increased with online meetings and the new work from home culture suited me more.

Do you have interesting hobbies?

Yes I like making cocktails, though I have always thought of starting a YouTube channel but I
never have practiced it professionally so not so sure about it.

Any bloopers in the past you would like to share?

One of the bloopers I remember and life lesson I have learned is to check the taps and gas when leaving the house. I was living in Pune in 2015 and I had an early morning flight to catch. As soon as I was about to get ready I turned on the tap and there was no water. Well I managed to get ready somehow but in haste I forgot to turn off the tap. Long story short after 6 hrs of flight journey I received a call from my landlord and neighbors that I left a tap open and the whole building now doesn’t have water. They had to break the lock of my apartment and close the tap. My entire living room was floating under water. It took 2 days for me to come back and then fix my mess. Lesson learned the hard way..TURN OFF THE TAPS”

With what it problem should the person who read this, contact you immediately, as you cannot wait to solve it?

Anyone having an IT Dev-infra related issues, Cloud related doubts and Linux issues please reach out to me so that I can join forces with you and help you resolve it.

Tell us any (weird) fun fact about you?

I don’t know if its funny or not but I usually like to finish a series in one go if I start one on Netflix.

Why do you (want to) work for Techspire?

Techspire is aspiring to be the best without going into the rat race which is refreshing. Tech stack on which they are working and their experience and vision was one of the things which made me say Yes instantly. I liked the way how I was welcomed in the team and everyone here is so friendly and helpful.
