New Techspire Techie: Keith

You might have seen the new addition to Techspire team already on the pictures of our team building event. Here is now a proper introduction of Keith Moffat, the new Techspire employee who joined us recently.

What should we know about you?

I was born and raised in Canada. I have a Scottish father and an Irish mother. Currently I hold both Canadian & Irish citizenship. I am the type of person who is always pursing the next big thing. Keep up with me if you want to talk about large abstract idea’s or fun and interesting tech.

Would you like to share something about your background?

I like to think I was born and raised in a technology setting. I was obsessed with building, breaking, and fixing things. When I was 11 I got my first desktop computer and installed Ubuntu. I would try (and often fail) at writing auto-mining scripts for the online game RuneScape.

One of my biggest accomplishments as a child was soldering a mod chip into my PS1, then downloading and playing every game I could. The obsession evolved when I was a teenager into building guitar amplifiers and fuzz pedals. Then I further changed, and my passion for tech pushed me to pursue a career in Engineering and IT Technology.

What are you most proud of?

I was very fortunate to have worked on an ATT & Harry Potter project last year. This project enabled me to learn all the intricacies of AWS Fargate and Docker containers. It was also incredible to work with the Harry Potter team who actively communicated with us in meetings. I didn’t get to speak with J.K Rowling, but maybe next time.

What would you like people to know about you?

Everything I do in my life I try to put my full self, energy and passion into it. If we end up working together or even chatting. I want you to know you will always get my full attention.

What are you looking forward to the most, working for Techspire?

It’s the energy, the people, and the passion. Talk to the team and you’ll understand. Something about this group seems special. More than just a 9 to 5. I honestly am impressed with the vibe of the group and the level of technical expertise.

I think it takes a certain type of person to be successful in the technology sector. But it takes an even more specific person to have the right personality. I am really looking forwards on growing my skill set, building cool projects, and making new friends.

With what IT problem should the person who read this, contact you immediately, as you cannot wait to solve it?

Anything to do with CI/CD pipelines, containers, and cloud infrastructure. Show me your problems and I will give you an honest assessment and feedback.

How do you feel about Kitesurfing? 😉

I like the Kite part. But the surfing sounds bloody wild. Is there a skateboarding or snowboarding version? I think I’d be real good at that.
